House Cleaning Services In Sunnyside, Queens, NY

Sunnyside Gardens, pre-war co-ops, and a neighborhood built as an experiment.

    Cleaning Services in Sunnyside

Sunnyside contains one of the most interesting pieces of housing in New York, and it changes how we work there. Sunnyside Gardens was built in the 1920s as a planned community on the English garden-city model — brick row houses arranged around large shared interior courtyards, with private gardens backing onto communal green space held in common. It's landmarked, it's governed by rules about what residents can and can't alter, and the houses themselves are modest, well-built and full of original detail. Cleaning them means respecting both the fabric and the community: original wood floors that want a neutral soap rather than flooding, and an awareness that a shared courtyard is not a place to shake out a mop. Beyond the Gardens, Sunnyside is largely pre-war co-op buildings along Skillman and Queens Boulevard with generous room proportions and original bathroom tile. It's a few minutes west of our office and one of our busiest recurring markets.

    About Sunnyside

Sunnyside lies between Long Island City and Woodside, bounded roughly by the Sunnyside Yard, the BQE, Roosevelt Avenue and 48th Street. Sunnyside Gardens, built between 1924 and 1928 by Clarence Stein and Henry Wright with Lewis Mumford among its first residents, is a designated historic district and one of the earliest planned garden communities in the United States. The 7 stops at 46th Street–Bliss Street and 40th Street–Lowery Street.
